Well, I have some of my Trans Union disputes back. Sears and Citibank reports of consumer credit counseling have been deleted. So that is good news. HOWEVER, I disputed on Macy's account because it was listed as open when it was really closed. Instead of verifying with the creditor that it was closed they deleted the account!!!!!!! I'm worried because this account was all positive and was opened in 1994. Nothing I can do about that now right??? I just don't understand why they did not check to see ifit was open. I only wanted to close the line because it had been open since 1994 and used only once. We don't have Macy's where we live now. Oh well...at least that neg statement was removed.

Oh and also we are applying for a mortgage within a year and i heard that it was not good to have a lot of open lines of credit...especially those that are not used...Looks like I did the wrong thing.....

You can write to Macy's and request that they re-report to the CBs. I have been burned on this too-best to request account closed through the creditor rather than dispute via CB, because if they don't respond in time, they will delete it.

Call TU and advise them that listing an account as closed is far different than denying the account is yours. You disputed only the fact that the acct was closed, not open and you expect that acct to be put back on immediately listed as closed by consumer. If that doesn't work, send me an email and I'll give you the name and email for someone at TU who MAY be able to help. No promises though.

Your account entry has probably been cloaked by TU. Thus, Macy's cannot reinsert it even if they wanted to.

You need to call TU and ask that they "re-add" (use that term) the Macy's account. To get it done, you may have to call them more than once or escalate it to a supervisor.
