I was curious since I am not in a geographical friendly area allowing me to make an online dispute can someone tell me what are the appropriate equifax and experian dispute addresses. Also when making a dispute in writing do I just send a copy of the report with notations of which items I am disputing and thats it or do I need to include 32 forms of ID with my request? or is ID generally only required when getting a report sent out? thanks!
I thought with EX anyone could dispute online? EQ - You will need to find out who your affiliate is. Just give them a call. There are some phone numbers in the FAQ's. Experian's address is: P O Box 9595 Allen, TX 75013 Don't worry about sending a copy of the report, just put in a letter the company name, and the account number as they have it listed, and a reason for your dispute. I've never sent in any ID with my disputes, others send in a copy of the DL and SS#. I think that must be hit or miss whether they ask for it!
experian wont let me online dispute and gives me some goofy phone number from the east coast to do any business with as to disputes, etc. Experian starts to let me fill in cr number and info and after i hit the three agree buttons it dead ends me into an 800 number page and that number is always impossible to get a human being on. I just got me experian through the mail and had a number of addresses deleted. I want to now dispute most of the tradelines and suppose I'll just have to mail a dispute back to them.
Myndi, First, welcome to the board. Go ahead and dispute to the main corporate office addresses. This forces them to forward your dispute to the affiliate, (if they have one) and thereby run the risk of running very late with your reply. Good luck, keep us posted.
Re: Re: dispute question For what it's worth ... I tried this once, Butch. Through the power of the USPS online tracking I could see the letter reached Equifax in Houston, but it was then sent to CSC in El Paso, where they finally signed the green card four days later. I got my deletion right at 30 days from the green card date. peace, delilah
Re: Re: dispute question I've been able to do disputes on the phone without any problems. You might want to try that also. The trick is not to do too many at once otherwise the rep will think your full of BS.
Re: Re: dispute question hmm, i hear disputing a dozen is fine because some say the first set of disputes tends to be the most effective. yet others say dont dispute every neg on your report at once or they wont take you too seriously,, this also has its logic. I have over a dozen negs and was thinking perhaps it a bit much to dispute at once.
Re: Re: dispute question I tried doing them all at once and got 1 removed. I had 20. Now I've tried 2-3 at a time and seem to get 1 removed. So for me it's been better not to do too many at once. I know people that have had good success doing 1 per day for a week.
Re: Re: dispute question S basically one per day for a week is counting on the odds that the same employee will never likely handle the same file twice in any close stretch of time and that one erroneous trade is easier to justify for deletion rather than someone who blatently throws 20 derogs up hoping to get the majority zapped off. Will they send you a new report for each dispute letter written?
Re: Re: dispute question Myndi, You're catching on. This is only one of the many philosophies on how to dispute. Which ever way you do it the idea is to fly under the radar...which they call frivilous disputes.
Re: Re: dispute question For me I find the one per day is easiest doing online. I'm a big user of online disputing. There are debates over which is better. Everyone will agree that 4 is the max. per day. Start with the oldest first.
Re: Re: dispute question Wish I could online dispute. the system wont let me. keeps referring me to call an 800 number. so i figured Id just mail them in. only problem with this theory is that it can be costly in terms of sending registered return recipt. Ive got 5 letters ready to go and already over $20 in postage! ouch!
Re: Re: dispute question You start a new online dispute before the previous 30 days are up?? I thought that was a no no for flying under the frivolous radar, no?
Re: Re: Re: dispute question Do not dispute 12 at one time. You run the risk of having them classify your disputes as frivolous. As suggested earlier, do about 4 per letter. Also, the reason the first round of disputes is often very successful is because you are disputing the oldest first, and when they are that old, the ca or oc often doesn't have any record of the account any longer.
Re: Re: Re: dispute question I've only been able to do daily online disputes with Experian. Equifax won't allow me to dispute online anymore. Myndi...a way to save some money is to dispute by phone too.
