I recently check my credit report and noticed that had a balance due for an OC that went through CA and paid for. The CA line on the report is gone but the OC line was still showing as being owed. The problem with this card is that a family member opened it under my name a few years ago and i didn't really know about it, when I found out about it I worked with that person to have the CC paid off. I sent in a dispute letter asking that the OC line be deleted because it was incorrect. All trans union did was change the item to the balance of zero... Do I have anyway of having this item deleted? What are my next steps?
If they balance is zero now, you need to move on to other data fields. My first suspicion is that the date of status is inaccurate and the account history is probably off. If these fields are missing, dispute as incomplete. Secondly, look at the account status and make sure it indicates paid. If not, dispute that as well.
