ok I disputed an item with MCM collection agency and this is the letter they sent me.... the purpose of this letter is to request your assistance so that we may reach a quick resolution to your dispute. as part of our investigation of your dispute, it would be helpful to have a copy of any documentation you may have that supports your dispute. in the interim, we have requested that the three major consumer credit reprting agencies change the status of this account to "disputed". please mail or fax cancelled checks, paid letters, police reports, or any other documentation you may have to support your claim. ok the reason i disputed this item bc i believe its passed the SOL. are they asking me to send them information bc they cant validate this account??
*bingo*you don't have to prove anything to them.I would mail them a python for the snakes they are. They want you to verify that you owe them money.no,nada,nyet.I've dealt with these thugs and goons before.
Then don't admit you own the debt and definitely don't send them any more information. They have to send YOU the information. If they can't, then they can't pursue collection activities. Simple as that.
Deffinatly DO NOT mail them anything... Im no expert here, in fact - I'm oretty new to this whole credit repai stuff and from what I have read - they are sending you this to get you to inadvertanly prove to your self that you owe the debt. Also these papers may be used against you if it happens to go to court. just my $0.02
If your request for validation was within thirty days from you initially communication with them, sue them. They took continued collection activity by verifing the account. What did you dispute about it. You may have FDCPA and FCRA violations by virtue of what they verified. Don't send them anything in any event.
