I had an auto lease that I was late on a bunch of times (A BUNCH, about 13). I wanted to get the lates (or whole trade line) off my report as it is just about the only derof left. I first disputed it about a year ago and it came back with more lates than were there originally. Last month I disputed it again (you need patience to clean your credit report). This time it came back wrong; the same lates but marked as "pays 61-90" (was listed as pays as agreed) and now listed as an OPEN account, not installment. It also lists the last late pay as 7 months ago. The lease was ended 20 months ago. Returned with nothing due and caught up on payments before I returned it. My question is this: How can I go about getting the complete trade line removed, especially now that it is all wrong. After getting nine bad trade lines removed or cleaned (including a 90-day late mortgage) I am stuck on this one single item, any help??
Really, no one can help me with what step is next? Should I just dispute the wrong info with the CRA or go directly to the lender with this one? This is close to my only bad mark left and I am stuck. thanks
I would deal with the OC on this one. I write them and explain that the account is being reported as open and currently late, which is incorrect and impossible. Then, they should resubmit a corrected TL.
Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think there is any chance of getting the whole TL deleted from my CRAs? Maybe suggesting they have me confused with someone else, hence the complete garbage they sent Equifax with their last supposed verification of data? I have used everything from disputing items at the CRAs, sending kiss ass letters and even a (subtle) nut case type letter. Everything has been cleared except this one lease, it just keeps getting worse!! Now it is even wrong and worse. But all I have done is dispute at Equifax.
I guess you could dispute it as 'not mine' first, then contact the OC. But, in my opinion, the pastderog TL that it truly is, is much better than the currently past due derog they gave you after the last dispute. I would get the correct trade line back...then re-dispute it as if you were starting over.
