I have disputed a tradeline (HFC) online and then via snail mail w/supporting documentation yet it still remains. What is the next step? I know I can only investigate the same item twice.

Is it an OC or CA? Paid or unpaid? How old? Any other issues? You can dispute indefinately just not online.

Household Finance Corp is the original creditor. Opened in 1/98, included in ch7 7/98, reaffirmed 9/98 and paid off $15000+ in 9/00.

Reporting 180 days late as of 1/99 - reaffirmation agreement states begin payments in 1/99. So, I want these lates removed. Basically, they have reported me late from the day of the bankruptcy.

Other issues are many but do not relate to the CR but rather HFC not adhering to the reaffirmation agreement.

send a letter asking for a Procedural request as to "how" they verified this particlular account. They usually send a generic form letter and that is a violation. They are supposed to send info on who they contacted in regards to verifying the account.

Oh and they have 15 days to get it to you after they recieve your request.

Should I do that or should my lawyer? (Saw one today re: TILA violation, he thinks we may have a case with the reporting instead.) There is no arbitration section in my docs.

Any clue what persuing this would cost? and is it worth it?

Actually you can do it on your won. f they dont send you proof of how they verified THAT particular account then give it to your lawyer and its one more strike against the CRA

Ever considered the idea that it may just be the creditor that is misreporting it? If there is other issues with this creditor, then it most likely is the creditor misreporting and not the cra.

Lkh makes a good point. Many times it IS the creditor. for example I disputed a Collections acct that was showing $5500..it was verified. i sent a validation letter to the CA they also stated $5500 then when push came to shove they finally admitted it should have only been $1500...

Oh, I'm sure it IS the creditor. (That's why I mentioned there is no arbitration clause in my loan docs.) Sorry if I steered you the wrong way on my gripe.

I have been through at least 20 people at HFC and no one seems to care. Basically, they're all asses and are no help.
