I'm sure this question has been answered so please forgive me I'm in the process of disputing 5 charge-offs on my credit reports...they are somewhat recent and say that they have been "sold to another lender" Assuming I am lucky enough to get some of these charge-offs removed on the first round of disputes, what is the chance that they will re-report the information? I was under the impression that once a lender sells off a bad debt they really aren't all that concerned about verifying the information. Forgive my ignorance as I am a newbie...
Little if any chance the seller will re-report. They no longer have any interest in it, although it is possible. The real risk is that the new owner will report and/or re-age. Althought the problem of re-aging is against the law, it happens everyday, and it is a bugger to deal with.
At least in that situation I have the law on my side and ammunition for a lawsuit Thank you for the reply
If they do 're-report', they would have to report using a new account # as the old one has been flagged/cloaked/suppressed. None of my deleted accounts have ever been reinserted. I am almost 100% sure that all mine 're-report' but they are not readded to my report b/c of their flagged/cloaked/suppressed status on the CRA's end. Flip side: How and why would they stop reporting just b/c you disputed, and thus got a deletion in the past?
