If I dispute an account with experian will my fico score temporarily go up (since the bad debt is in dispute)? I have read on here that it can with Equifax but I'm not sure about Experian. Any ideas??

No, a dispute with the Evil Exp will not affect your score.

Assuming they accept your dispute and reinvestigate, the disputed account should show up as "under investigation." But, it will not affect your score. EXP never does anything in your favor, unless they have to, and even that is a maybe.

OK..another quick question..If I did a dispute with Equifax on a major derog (repossesion) is there any chance it could boost that fico by 50 points temporarily? I am closing on a house next week and the fico fell.

How many negatives do you have on Equifax? My husband had about 7...I disputed 6 of them and his score jumped for 604 to 681.

This scenario is more of the exception rather than the rule, though.
