Can anyone tell me how to dispute inquires online with the 3 CBs? I have way too many in the last 6 months and it's one of the reasons for lowering my score. My Beacon score as of 9/19/01 is 614. Reasons: 1. Paid Collections on file (currently disputing as not mine) 2. Length of time accts have been established (oldest trade line opened = 11/00) 3. Too many inquires in the last 12 months 4. Proportion of balances to limits too high on bank/other revolving accts. Just thought I would share...
I think I have only disputed inquiries online with exp, which can be done at http://www.experian.com/consumer/cac/01_LoginPrivacyPage.jsp -monk
I've had extremely good luck with Experian. TransUnion are a bunch of bastards; they won't do anything. Equifax is about the same way, they tell you to get ahold of the creditor and the creditor tells you to get ahold of them to start the dispute! I would dispute Experian over the internet; it's very easy. Just put in your report number and you're on your way. Here is the link: http://www.experian.com/consumer/cac/01_LoginPrivacyPage.jsp Transunion can either be done over the phone or online. I haven't had much luck over the internet with disputing; they just send you some retarded letter stating the creditor doesn't need written authorization to inquire into your credit blah blah. Here is the link to get you started with their online investigations: http://www.transunion.com/Personal/DisputeCreditReport.asp Equifax can vary. If you have a local office, you won't be able to dispute online. When you get the report, it has a confirmation number at the bottom of it. If yours doesn't have this, you've got to deal with their local affiliate. Mine is very stupid and unwilling to help me. Here is the link for their information: https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/webapp/ConsumerProducts/pgInvestigation Good luck, I hope you get them all removed. Experian should be a breeze, but look for more trouble with TransUnion and especially Equifax.
We've never had a single poster here who claimed to have been successful disputing inquiries with Equifax. (By "disputing", I don't mean filing law suits or talking the lender into removing it from one's file). Saar
I object to that statement. I just received the results from my local Equifax affiliate today, and although I didn't get all 12 of the inquiries I disputed removed, 6 of them were taken off. 4 by American Express and 2 by First Usa. Here's how I did it. I first disputed with the local affiliate, who sent me a letter telling me to dispute the inquiry with the creditor. This I did, sending them a letter asking them to remove the unauthorized inquiries. I also included a copy of my report with the inquiries highlighted. Every creditor sent me back a letter saying I must handle this with the credit bureau. I then sent off their notes to the local affiliate, along with my report and the unauthorized inquiries highlighted. They removed 6 of the 12. 50% isn't too bad! I'll be going back for round 2 and let you all know how I did!!! Good luck, it just takes time. This didn't happen over a few weeks. It took me two months worth of correspondance with the creditors and bureaus to get them removed.
Yeah, it took a lot of stinkin work tho! I guess in the end its all well worth it! I'll be going in for round two. I'll let you know how I did when I get the results.
