Now that I have some of the big things out of the way on my credit reports I'm moving on the the late payments on my accounts. Looking at my reports it seems that I have 11 accounts reporting late payments. These range from several accounts with one 30 day late to an account with nearly thirty 30 day lates. (The rest fall into the range of 2-8 30 day lates with two reaching 90 days late once and three reaching 60 days late at least once) I'd like to dispute them all as never late, but I'm concerned that if I do it all in one letter or all online at once they're going to think my claims are fradulant or that I'm working with a credit repair company. In your experiance is it bad to dispute so many late payments at once? Would it be better to pick two or three of the worst (I'm thinking the one with thirty 30 day lates and the ones with the 90 day lates) and dispute them first, then the next worst and so on. In this case, should I wait the 30 days for the first investigations to complete, or should I send my next 'batch' a week or two after the first one? Thanks much, Brett
Just an update and a bump... I went ahead and disputed my three worst. I tried to use at least a slightly different reason for each. Any ideas on when I should send my next disputes in? And how many I should do in that batch? Thanks, Brett
I would recommend waiting the 30 days out before you dispute any different ones. Don't want to raise any red flags.
I'm going to bump this once more... BrettS [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ THE END ** *** ** LB 59 ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
Another thing about waiting out the 30 days, you might get a better idea if a certain phrasing or way you presented it worked better than the others -- although you can never be certain. A good idea is to be very specific ... "I was not 30 days late 28 times." So the CRA will ask, "was this person late 28 times" and if you were late 27 or 29 times, the OC will have to answer "no" to the CRA's question. Also, please be mindful that in many cases, the CRA will delete the entire TL even when you are just asking for the lates to be removed. I'd be cautious in disputing TL that, for example, have just one 30 day late from five or six years ago if you need that TL for mix or age purposes = expect that the CRA will delete it entirely ... do you really want to lose the TL? I've seen various posts about how many to dispute per letter ... most people max out around four or five per dispute, it seems. No hard and fast rules about it, but people seem to have luck around that number. peace, delilah
