When you are disputing something does it take it off your report while it is being investigated?

Not usually. At the conclusion of the investigation, the item will either be removed, updated, or verified.

While it is in dispute, the cra is supposed to mark it as being disputed by consumer. I know that equifax does this and while it is in dispute, they do not factor that account in for your score.

How can one be sure about either one of these points?

    lb,

We can only provide information to you according to our own experiences. From my experiences and knowledge it APPEARS that disputed items are not factored into the scoring b/c of a temporary rise and fall of scores during the process. We have only recently been able to obtain these scores from equifax so our information is limited.

If you require further proof, call your credit bureau and ask a representative.

All disputed items should be marked as in dispute and if they are not you should call your credit bureau and ask a representative.

    Thank you!
