I am going to send a dispute to EXP indicating two accounts for Macys that are listed twice are not mine. They are in the derog section of my CR report (from myfico.com) as charge off, collection, or bk. The account numbers are not ones that I've ever had with Macys.

Do I have to have EXP's credit report number in order to submit this dispute? Like I mentioned, I got my CRs from myfico.com so I don't have individual report reference numbers.

The letter I'm sending is essentially going to say you are reporting incorrect date...right?

-MYFICO.COM is a RESELLER. Before 2004, you could not dispute info with a reseller, but with the revisions of the FRCA for 2004, RESELLERS have to the same requirement for a dispute.

-BUT, the new law is kinda "up in the air" and I am not sure why at this point :)

-SO, in the meantime, it is better to get a report directly FROM the "Major" reporting agency. If you send a dispute to a credit report FROM myfico.com to EXPERIAN, and they are aware of the changes in the law, they may reply "we did not provide that report, we cannot investigate for myfico.com"

-I thought the accounts were NOT yours??

-IF they are NOT yours, say that. IF THEY ARE YOURS, and you are hoping for a deletion for failure to verify, DISPUTE THE DETAILS ABOUT THE ACCOUNT WHCIH MAY BE WRONG..ANYTHING OTHER THEN IDENTITY :)

Thanks for the info on re-sellers. I did mean to say my argument will be the account number is not mine.

I have requested all of my reports from the three bureaus directly. I live in Jersey so I get one free per year and I made the request via mail with no check enclosed just my driver's license showing my address.

I guess when I receive the reports I will go ahead and dispute whatever I need to at that time.

Patience is a virtue...I just do not possess!
