Yesterday I disputed a federal tax lien through CSC (I'm in Texas). It now shows on my report as being in dispute but my score hasn't changed a bit. I thought that disputed items were hidden on EQ. Since that's my only baddie, shouldn't my score have gone up? More importantly, is EQ not hiding disputes anymore and instead just marking them as disputed but leaving them on the report?
I'm experiencing the same thing. It shows on my credit report that I'm disputing account is mine and I know for a fact it has been that way since January. Isn't there something I can do?
it is probably because you didnt really dispute with EQ, you disputed with CSC... people who have the luxury of online disputes with EQ will gain the benefit of their score being higher when things are in dispute. (it would appear) us folks who have to use their 3rd party agencies (CSC) don't seem to have the same benefit of a higher score during the dispute period. personally, the last time I disputed with CSC, nothing showed in dispute on my EQ report the entire time, but when the 30 days was up, everything on EQ was updated to reflect the investigation results. Just disputed more things today and equifax doesnt show it online at credit watch. someone else may have more insight to this, as this is just my take on it. oh btw, I also have a dispute that has been there since January, it says 'in dispute' and has said so since then as far as I can tell. They said they cannot remove it. go figure.
Thanks Mark, very helpful. I've got the same problems with CSC. I disputed via snail mail and only a couple are showing in dispute online. However, I can only dispute via snail mail-which sucks. 30 days is up next week so we'll see what updates and what doesn't. But I agree with your logic.
so the in dispute can remain forever? The funny thing about it is I never disputed that. This is my first time starting the repair process. I'm getting ready to contact CSC. Wish me luck.
good luck..it takes forever to get them on the phone. I got a real nice lady earlier and she said 'i see this has been in dispute for a long time, but all I can do is let you dispute it again' so i disputed it again..have no idea what that is going to accomplish, but oh well. this was the one they said they couldnt remove. you'd think being in dispute for more than 30 days would be cause for them to remove it..
That isn't necessarily true, when I dispute an "account' with CSC, I have had score changes. The account would not be suppressed, it would show in dispute.
