just looking for opinions on the following things 1) which credit reporting agency was easiest to work with 2) best way to dispute - online, mail/fax, telephone 3) how long (start to finish) did it take you to clean up your report w/beginning and ending scores? I'm putting together information for clients who are trying to correct errors. i will answer my own questions: 1) TransUnion 2) Online 3) 6 months 487 - 715 (although i occasionally have issues resurface)
Cert mail. Is this something I should consider since I did only for TU and Equifax but no luck (Experian did it no prob in 5 days via online) yet.. Its been only 10 days but for me buying their service so its easier to dispute equifax isnt doing much
I call, online and cert mail everything, that way I know they have it 3 times, All 3 have different perks, TU will dispute Inquiries pretty easy,Experian wont. by far have had the best luck with EXP and they are fighting the hardest to keep the public records. Started 7-03 with a 519 and no credit at all, chapter 13 discharged 7-03 Now 684 average and getting easier to obtain credit, just have to overcome the "new account" and Age problem.
same problem with me trent (the new account) new cc and auto loan posted - dropped 50 points. Equifax held on to the bad trades the longest for me and i couldn't get inquiries to budge of TU or Exp (thank god i didn't apply for credit for 5 years) so i only have 5 (3 insurance, 1 car, 1 cc). Equifax verified things that was off the other two in a matter of days. Couldn't get them to budge on 2 TL's for a long time. one other trend i noticed was that is was easier to get things removed when i had a lot of negs. once i got down to 1-2 items it was SO much harder.
I agree with the ease at first. got almost all off in the first 2 months, 5 months later still battling just a couple baddies. new accounts continue to make my score go up due to nothing for 5 years during BK-13. New mortgage, 2 new car loans, 8 credit cards in 6 months so there is no age at all. I am in an area that uses CSC(an Equifax affiliate) and they are a pain in the A**. however they will investigate if you send new info,
i have CSC Credit and they are pains in the a$$. i know for a fact they don't validate on the TL's when they get busy and they have horrid attitudes. you pretty much have to sue w/them.
Re: Re: disputing Only way to fly you need to keep- build a paper trail because if you hit a snag and don't have it you're pretty much up the creek without a paddle.
Re: Re: disputing 1) which credit reporting agency was easiest to work with. TU. And wouldn't you know it, a few recent new med collections pop up on my TU? I'm feeling lucky. 2) best way to dispute - online, mail/fax, telephone I've never done telephone, and I guess I should give it a shot this week just to say I did. I've done the online with all 3 two years ago, but a good bit seems to be back on, so after this latest slew of validations to CA's and OC's I sent CRRR to the CRA's for Christmas. Seen some good action lately. 3) how long (start to finish) did it take you to clean up your report w/beginning and ending scores? I'm not sure if this is the end of the beginning, or the beginning of the end, but I'm not going to give up this time. Business is war, and they are all going down!
