I disputed a bunch as incorrect balance first and now can I dispute them as not mine. Has anybody succeeded by doing this. I did not want dispute everything not mine in the first round. 2) if an account is closed with high credit limit as zero, is it better to get it deleted?. I think this item with zero limit will bring the average limit down (not sure what it said) hurting the score. 3) I disputed one mortgage account as never late which truly is but experian came back as verified. When I called mortgage company they said they never recieved any enquiry from experian. Appreciate your comments.
Disputing a balance is a lot like saying, "You have the wrong balance stated on my acct". Then you want to then turn around and say, "This is not my acct". They may likely not believe you. Someone here can help if you can tell them the types of accts youre speaking of. You did mention a mortgage and a credit card but give as much info here as possible. Validation may still work. Good luck to you.
1. I don't know how many you're disputing at one time, and there are other opinions on this, but I would start doing some individual disputes now. Your goal is to get them back into dispute mode, using something logical for the account. (Never late, judgement/lien...etc. never filed on this date, not mine....you get the idea.) As much as we've wanted to hit everything at once, we've tried not to call undue attention to ourselves and that means more disputes over a longer period of time. 2. We deleted 2 similar accounts that were over a year old and lost several points as a result. We thought the same thing you did, that they were bringing down our averages. We were wrong. Wish we had left them alone. 3. Write to Experian and ask them for the procedures they used to verify the late notation. You are entitled to this. Ask them how they were able to verify something that the mortgage company has confirmed to you is not correct. Ask the mortgage company for a letter confirming that Experian did not contact them and also confirming that you were never late. You could send a copy of this letter this along with your procedure request and I have a feeling that late will disappear pronto. All the best with it. DemPooches
