    Hello to all:

I have been trying to understand DLA's and still very confused. Here is my situation, so if someone could please explain how this works and if they have errored, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have old accounts that have been placed in collection. There are a few that show I have a DLA in very recent months, which I know they have not contacted me nor have I contacted them. I also have not made payments. Example, open date 3/98, report date 12/03 and DLA 12/03.

Is this something to fight and how do I go about fighting this?

i'm having an off night, so experts can probably correct me if i am wrong but DOLA is the first month payment was due and you didn't pay. in regards to collections, i believe the DOLA is the date it was sent to collection.

-The date of last activity is a "gray area" on credit reports.

    -It really isnt "anything" relevent.

-The 7 year reporting period (the time a bad debt can be listed) STARTS from the DATE OF ORIGINAL DELINQUENCY.

-Saying that, MOST the reporting agencies have STOPPED reporting the "original date of delinquency" in exchange for reporting the "Date of last activity"

-A "furnisher of information" is required to provide the date or original delinquency.
