Sorry for yelling, but I'm about as PO's as can be right now. Here's the deal, and what you need to do. I was working on a response to neomatrix (sp?), and I decided to call DMB about what March's APRs were going to be. Currently I have 8.74% purchase & 11.74% cash APRs. Based on the 90-day high prime policy they have, next month statement is supposed to show 7.99% purchase & 10.99% Cash. Well I just about choked when the guy told me DMB sent letters in December about an upcoming March repricing that would push my purchase rate to 24.24% and cash rate to 28.24%!!!!!!! I said, "That's f'ed up! I've been with this company almost 3 years, have no negatives on my credit report, and I have every piece of mail you've ever sent me, and I assure you I got no such letter." He was very defensive & said people have been calling nonstop since receiving their March statements, complaining that they got no such letter either, but he'll send me the letter now. He was anxious to get me off the phone, & passed me off to Judy Rozendal in Retention. Judy said the CSR didn't look down enough in the file to see that my new rates will actually be 10.49% and 20.49%. DMB now wants a minimum 6% spread between cash & purchase rates. Effective in March, the APR range will be 6.74% to 29.99%. She couldn't answer why I don't qualify for a lower rate even though I have high scores, 0 negatives & a UR of only 14%. I must wait for the billing cycle to close on 3/12 to call back & request a rate adjustment. In the meantime, she gave me a $20 credit effective today to help offset the additional interest I will be charged. Complain to: Executive Response Center PO Box 550999 Jacksonville, FL 32255-9999 P.S. Maybe I shouldn't have made fun of George earlier; seems like the random score generator doesn't mean a thing to these predators.
It's only $1700, so I can get rid of it all before the April due date. Thank God I've been in an aggressive debt reduction mode these past 2 years, and I don't have to put up w/ crap like this anymore. Valued customer, my a$$
I posted this in January! No one responed to having an insert so I assumed I was the only one who received it. http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...php?s=&postid=123320&highlight=dmb#post123320 DMB Balance= 0
Rina, i might get beat up 4 this comment, but here goes.....faith and a$$ don't mix. forgive me it that was to krass, but i know u know better. Peace & Love
Breeze, you're absolutely right. The Bible does have a quite bit to say about judging. The same Person who made a point about judging in Matthew 7:1 also made a point about being held accountable for the words people speak in the day of - (gee, did He really use the "J" word???) - *judgement* in Matthew 12:36-37. Please take a course in Hebrew and Aramaic to learn what the word "judge" means in Matthew 7:1 before applying it so liberally to excuse any and all behavior as equally valid. Theology aside - for the sake of logical consistency - if no one is to be in the business of "judging" anyone else - then why in the world did *you* take issue with informed's response to Rina? Are you not "judging" informed with your own reply? Rina, I'm assuming that, based on your initial sig of "conquering through Christ" (which I love), that you are a professing Christian. So am I. I believe - and please take this with the humility in which it is given - that informed's post is right on point. :-( As far as Direct Merchant's Bank is concerned - I'd pay them off and do business with another card issuer. Your scores and credit history are good enough to get better treatment than what DMB did to you. It's also good that you're in a position to pay off that balance and not be at the mercy of their greedy tactics. Good luck!
And are you not judging Rina by stating your agreement with informed? Personally, I think none of this has any place here.
Good question. The difference is that the Christian (i.e. my) world view does allow people to say "____ is right" or "____ is wrong". (however, the Christian world view does not allow people to condemn each other - and that is what Matt. 7:1 is about) But the second a person tells another person some version of "you are wrong to judge _____, because no one can judge anyone one else" - they've already lost the logical right to make that statement b/c they're doing the very thing that they say no one is allowed to do. So, to answer your question, I can say that I think Rina (or whoever) is right or wrong on some issue. Granted, I may be wrong in what I say - and I often am - but at least I'm allowed to say it. Yes, I believe in God and morality; at the same time, I believe in intellectual consistency, and that is why I took issue with Breeze's reply.
Wow, I didn't think this would spark a controversy I do stand corrected in my choice of words, and I don't take offense @ it. I know what the Bible said about bridling the tongue, & I'm doing my best. It's just that I was really shocked at the shabby treatment, especially since my account has never been delinquent, and I didn't do anything to "deserve it". I really didn't want to have to shop around now, as I have 3 hard INQs on my report as of last year. I applied online @ Juniper & said they need more time to process. Any idea if Juniper usually takes a while to reply, & how much of a CL to expect w/ these scores & $100K+/yr? Now I'm wondering if I should try Citi while I'm at it? Either way, this balance will be gone before the end of the month. I'll keep the card only bc it's the older of 2, and almost 3 years old.
Fair enough. However, I remain firm in my opinion that this type of conversation doesn't belong in this forum. The general forum - fine.
Right, LKH! I believe Rina's email is enabled. But if someone chooses to criticize a friend of mine in public, I will defend my friend in public.
Look, How many times have we entertained OT issues on this board????? Take miss-going-thru-college-on-my-back, for example -- 'nuff said. This thread does belong here, as I wanted to alert people who weren't notified by DMB about their egregious repricing terms. In the process I made a comment that some people called me on & that others defended me for. While I take no offense to the redress, I appreciate breeze & others sticking up for me. If it was wrong for people to voice their agreement or disagreement, then we need to start advising everybody to post OT threads directly in the general forum instead of preceding their subject with "OT". The point: Even though the balance will be paid w/i a month, I'll still transfer my DMB balance to take the business away from them. I also made a point to tell them I know the majority of their accounts are crappy, and this is no way to treat somebody who has never abused her account. Past my bedtime. See y'all tomorrow.
Ok. Fair enough. Rina, I thank you for being understanding. I appreciate your good natured reply. And, yeah, I'm trying my best, too... Get rid of that card. Direct Merchants Bank is doing what Fleet, FUSA, and others have tried. You have better choices.
