Do I need a lawyer

Experian put two major derogatory items on my credit report (both retail credit cards totalling $1000). These items are 14 and 15 years old delinquent. I disputed them. As I waited for the reply, all of a sudden today another alert appeared on my report with the same two that I already disputed. I called experian and the company. Experian says that is what they reported and there is nothing they can do. The company says that true they should not be on the report but they did not report it and they don't know who did. I am at a complete loss and don't know what to do. I was in the middle of a mortgage when this appeared. Needless to say, this stopped things until I clear them up. Hopefully the house will still be available. Should I get a lawyer? If so, what kind should I be looking for? I already reported the company to the FTC. Help!

The threat of losing the house sounds like potential damages. If you have the ability to buy a home in the current market, you should have the funds available to consult with a lawyer. Perhaps start out with a real estate attorney who could then refer you to a consumer protection lawyer who deals with figuring out credit reports like this. Buying a house a is big huge deal, don't do it alone, make sure everything is correct.
