I need to get CBE group to stop calling me- should I send validation letter first or just go ahead and send the cease and desist letter first? Also- on my CR I disputed a couple of things, so do I now need to send dispute letters out on those items- they are not CBE group items- .....Thankfor the help!
Maybye send the validation letter with this added. It is inconvient to contact me by phone at anytime. I request only written correspondance concerning this matter. Quote: "Also- on my CR I disputed a couple of things, so do I now need to send dispute letters out on those items" How did you dispute? Did you do it in writing? Or online? Either way don't send anything else just yet, give them a full 30-45 days to send you results. Hope this helps, Tegleg
You are speaking of two separate items here, so lets' divide and deal with each one. Re: CBE, it is always the best idea to send a Request for Debt Validation. First, this protects your rights under the FDCPA, if sent within the first 30 days of receipt of the first notice from the collection agency. Next, this does (by law) stop the agency from calling UNTIL they have provided evidence that this debtis yours, and that the amount is correct. You can add the langauge of "inconvenient to call at anytime, please communicate in writing", this will stop the calls, but you can still receive mail from them. Be aware that these actions do not "stop" the debt, it will still be there. Re: your credit reports and disputes, if you have submitted disputes to the credit reporting agencies (CRAs), then await the results. Only submit "verification requests" if the disputes come back "verified". Take everything one step at a time.
