Do you live near Phoenix, AZ?

I have the opportunity to take a position with a company in the Avondale/Goodyear area of AZ and wanted to get some feedback from people that already live in the greater Phoenix area.

I spent a week there and fell in love with the surroundings. What do you think of the area? The people?

I noticed a huge number of homes being built. I also noticed a large number of homes being sold in established subdivisions. Are people buying homes only to find that the job market was soft or what?

    All feedback is welcomed.

Just got back from Phoenix...of course, I'm no expert but they have two things going for them I know of:

    1) Bill Johnson's Big Apple
    2) A NHL hockey team and so the Avs will visit once in a while (hahahah)

Only thing I can see is that it is a beautiful city. I lived there for two years but that was from 1996 to 1998.

I hated moving away but got transfered there then transfered back to Dallas.

    Good luck

I live in Tucson, but I can tell you the winter weather can't be beat. It has been about 80 for the last several weeks. The Phoenix and Tucson areas are both growing extremely quickly. I heard that Phoenix is over 2 million now, but for the most part, Arizonans are very friendly people. I'm sure you'd be very happy out here.

I'm in Sedona and I love it!

The only thing I have against Phoenix is the heat and the fact that everything is the same color - beige.

However, AZ is great. Friendly people, it's growing at a nice rate, and housing isn't too, too bad. (except maybe in Scottsdale).

We're moving to Phoenix in 2 months and I can't wait! I love it there. My hubby is originally from there, so we'll have lots of family around.

I understand your concern with the housing market. I heard that the reason 2-3 year old homes are for rent/sale in established subdivisions is because people are really playing the real estate game out there because it is growing so fast and so many people are moving there. One of hubbys uncles has already bought two new houses in Suprise. Plans on waiting about 5 years and hopefully turning a great profit.

I'm excited! What area do you plan on living in?

Thanks for the replies. Some areas resemble south Florida with the homestyles, palm trees, golf courses and shopping.

    Thanks again.

I saw where Surprise is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. I think it was on MSN Money that I saw it. Good luck. Personally, I think that Texas is still the best. A little bit of everything. Charlie
