I did a search on deletion of inquiries, I receieved an updated TU report today for my hubby got 4 items deleted bout time, I am excited, but there are 6 inquiries that are dated 2001 in the paragraph above them it says they will stay on the report for 2 years so why are they still showing? Am I confused whats up with that? Need some help....still awaiting my disputed items with TU keep you all posted...thanks in advance
What is the month on the inquiries in 2001? They will stay on till the end of that month in 2003. You can try asking for deletion a month or 2 before just saying they are obsolete.
Great idea should be off this summer then hopefully that will help with a score as well...thanks again....I guess I should l look a little bit closer to the report it does say 2 years and 2001 DUH Thanks guys
Teresa, these inquiries from 2001 should not be affecting your score. I **think** only inquiries in the last 6 months really affect your score. However, inquiries in the last year may also affect your score, maybe, and if they do, they do not impact your score as much as those in the last 6 months. Are you looking at the TU Fako score? If you are, this score may be telling you your score is being held down due to inquiries. Just remember, this is a BS score.
For what it's worth, if you buy your FICO score from Equifax or MyFICO.com, when you navigate to your score you can click a link called "Inquiries" -- and those only list those which are one year old or less. The implication there is that the older inquiries don't count at all in your score. I'm not sure I buy that entirely, because it seems that -- at least with respect to Experian -- I seem to remember my score increasing a point or two even when those older inquiries were successfully disputed (ref. the Doc's Trick threads). We do know that every CRA buys a slightly different formula from Fair Isaac, so it could well be 6 months on one, 1 year on another, and 2 years on another, for all we can tell. It's probably (operant word -- PROBABLY -- lol) safe to assume, though, that the most recent inquiries harm you more than the least recent ones. Doc
