Doc, I hate to appear completely "computer illiterate" but I'm not getting it. I have 21 inquiries and I get as far as the "copy this link" part and get lost. If I follow what you say, I should have this post up, credit expert up, and should another window be up as well? Please forgive my ignorance but I want to take advantage of this trick as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Roni, try copying the link and then pasting it into your already-open CreditExpert window. Then press return. I use a Mac, and the multiple windows method works on my computer. However if that didn't work for you, try what I just described. If you have more trouble, spend 10 minutes reading through this whole thread again. There was some troubleshooting going on earlier that may help you. Doc
Just disputed a bunch of hard and soft. You can forget the remembering of the number of the inquiry. Copy the link per Doc's instructions... than Just click the specific inquiry, and you will noticed that in the URL bar the inquiry ID# is present. Now just remember that number and paste the new dispute URL address and than change the current ID# to the one that you want to disptue. Don't forget to paste a copy of the link to your notepad for future reference. If you disputed an inquiry in the past and it has been verfied, this link will not work. I left a few of the oldest ones and two recent ones. Doc, thanks for the help. Best regards, Mirage
I found that I can't dispute one of my entries.. the ones done by CE in the soft section.. it always times out. All the others no problem.. but I think its because there are so many and its trynig to update/insert rows into the table in the database that the webserver tells it to time out.. anyhow, I have so many dates for CE.. : 04/27/2002, 04/26/2002, 04/25/2002, 04/22/2002, 04/21/2002, 04/18/2002, 04/16/2002, 04/15/2002, 04/14/2002, 04/12/2002, 04/11/2002, 04/09/2002, 04/07/2002, 04/05/2002, 04/04/2002, 04/03/2002, 04/01/2002, 03/28/2002, 03/26/2002, 03/25/2002, 03/22/2002, 03/20/2002, 03/19/2002, 03/17/2002, 03/15/2002, 03/13/2002, 03/11/2002, 03/06/2002, 03/05/2002, 03/04/2002, 03/01/2002, 02/28/2002, 02/27/2002, 02/25/2002, 02/23/2002, 02/21/2002, 02/20/2002, 02/18/2002, 02/15/2002, 02/14/2002, 02/12/2002, 02/11/2002, 02/10/2002, 02/09/2002, 02/07/2002, 02/05/2002, 02/03/2002, 01/30/2002, 01/26/2002, 01/17/2002, 01/16/2002, 01/15/2002
Ender, i have the same problem. My state also goes through an affiliate in Pittsburg so I have 2 of those big tables. I just got one of them to dispute so I'll keep trying the credit expert one as well.
WHO CARES IF THIS IS ILLEGAL RIGHT... NEVER LET THE LAW STAND IN THE WAY OF PERSONAL GAIN... WILL DOC PAY YOUR FINES AND STAY IN JAIL IF THEY DECIDE TO PROSECUTE YOU FOR HACKING/COMPUTER CRIMES? DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT POSTING METHODS OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITY EXPOSES CREDITNET.COM TO MAJOR LIABILITIES??
ANOMALY - PLEASE JUST SIGN OFF! THIS FORUM WILL BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITHOUT YOU WALKING THE HALLS!!! JUST SIGN OFF!!! THEN YOU WONT BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE REST OF US CRIMINALS!
Again... the dispute is not illegal. The method you're using is... you're breaking one law to exercise your rights in another. Try to make your "FCRA" argument to the judge if you get brought up on charges for computer crimes.... It's not going to hold any water.... But like I said earlier... who cares right? Why let a little thing like the law stand in your way for personal gain.
It's not "hacking" to manually type a url that subsequently brings up a webpage that is "published" and still available. All they have done so that people cannot dispute inquiries online is the remove the link to that page, but they have left the page available. The only reason they have left the page available is to either re-add the link to it at some future time or they just haven't gotten around to permanently removing page altoghether. It would only be "hacking" if you needed some kind of password to get access to that page or if you were trying to access someone else's information. The funtionality is obviously still there, it's only the link that is not. If you manually typing a url and you type the wrong url and it brings you to another site... have you accessed that site illegally? I think not. A little web design knowledge goes a long way.
It's not published... It's not available. That's the reason you have to alter the provided information. Just because a web page exists, does not mean you have the right to access it... Think of all of the secured banking pages... should you have access to all of them. I don't like Experian more than the next person, but if you use this "TRICK" you are breaking the law.... not the FCRA, but the computer crimes legislation...
Excuse me, but these are URLs that up until a couple of weeks ago were public. They have removed the LINK to these urls. There is nothing illegal about it. If it were "hacking" their software, we would all have 820 scores right now. Gib
