My father has a gold charge card. He is willing to,let me be a AU. However, I am a BK from 97 including Amex.

    Can I get a card?

Will it report to the 3 CRA's to improve my credit? My credit has been flawless snce 97.

    Bump

Surely someone must at least know if an Amex AU reports to the 3 CRA's.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT AU...they are thinking about DUMPING EXPERIAN and EQUIFAX for the "PRIMARY" cardholder...so the only chance is TRANS UNION...and that is "IFFY"

Yes. they reports AU users to all three Cra´s. And
Yes, you can receive a card. But don´t use your own ss#. leave it in blank (It´s optional) Also, the date of birth is optional.

George, you are worth your weight in gold for that tidbit about Amex dropping the CRA's.

Geo, thanks for your inputs too. They were greatly appreciated. Do you know how Amex located your credit file on the 3 CRA's without your SS# and DOB ?

CREDIT REPORT ACCESS IS EASY...it is like a "CROSS REFERENCE PHONE BOOK"...got the phone number???...get...name and address....got the name???...you get phone and address...you can also get neighbors name and address from a phone number...

CREDIT INFORMATION CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR CREDIT REPORT WITH THE NAME AND ADDRESS...that is how FARMERS did inquires on TRANS UNION with-out my SS#...

George, I don't remember what information we gave Farmers when we got our auto and homeowners insurance with them but they did a TU soft inquiry on both of us before we were renewed this year.

    Interesting.

So if your SSN and DOB is optional, does this mean it will be pretty much automatically approved for an AU since the primary card holder is responsible for all AU charges? By doing this, seems like it may increase your chances of getting an AU card.

    Geo,

By what method did you apply for the AMEX AU card where you didn't put your SSN & DOB?

via... mail-in app, phone, or web?

Also, just curious, but how did you find out that SSN & DOB is optional?
