I thought I remembered reading a post about it a month or two ago, but I can't find it. Maybe it had something to do with the Platinum Optima?
They have something even better, called a structure change, but it only works of you also have a foreign address. As for converting one card to another, that would usually be possible. Saar
Yes Saar, Do tell. I have access to a foreign address and references. Can't get an AMEX here and would love to have one. cariba
The BDD works for amex as well, except for the double part. Apply for the Delta skymiles card (one of their easiest cards). after getting the card call to convert to optima platinum, and get your annual fee returned, APR p+4%. You'll probably need a score of 650 or higher to be approved. -Roman
Saar, I am living outside US and have established credit in this country (Venezuela). Could you please explain me the "Structure change"?
Re: Does Amex have something like B The BDD works sorta. They won't have a problem extending you another card, but they will only split up your current "limit". I guess im in the AMEX loser profile ($2000 limit) until further notice. 3.9% for 6 months on purchases/bt is aight.
Re: Does Amex have something like B This is true. I just got a Delta Gold Skymiles by decreasing my Blue limit by $2000 and "allocating" that to the Skymiles card. After my bonus Skymiles points post to my Delta account - I will close the Skymiles card and add the limit back to my Blue card. The annual fee for me is $30 b/c I have the Green card. All in all, I'll pay $30 for 20,000 Hilton Honors points, once I finish converting.
Re: Does Amex have something like B Please note the following strategy. To apply it, you need to wait at least 90 days between the date card A was issued to the date card B is applied for. (Also, it only applies to Amex credit cards, not charge cards). An application by an existing cardmember for a second (or third) credit card may many times be declined for having excessive Amex credit lines at the time of application. In a situation like this, MORE would normally offer you to move some/all of your existing credit line, for them to be able to approve your application. However, there is a way around it. Instead of taking the MORE rep's offer to split your existing credit line, take a different approach. Tell the rep you'd like your application reopened and forwarded to a MORE supervisor for manual review. This may get you the new credit card you applied for, with an additional $2,000 limit. Worked for me (twice). Saar
Re: Does Amex have something like B this week's update: After AmEx moved $2K from my Blue to my new Delta card (thus reducing my Blue cl to $3000), I called New Accounts and asked for a CL increase on the Delta Card. They gave me another $2000 on the Delta account - which I will now transfer back to the Blue. So: Blue opened 12 -2001 $5000 Delta Gold opened 2-2002 $2000 (plus 10,000 Skymiles points) As soon as my Skymiles post, I'm closing the Delta and moving the cl to the Blue for a total cl of $7000.
