Totally Discouraged, but this board helps alot.

In my case I don't really want to wake up a sleeping giant, which is what I'm afraid I did when I ordered my reports. (It took me 2 months to get all 3, what does that say?). Only time will tell. Gonna lay low for awhile. Don't want to end up like pulse! I haven't done a thing since I ordered my reports because I still don't feel informed enough to move on. (It's now been a couple of months since I got my reports.)

Just remember, it took time to get here, it's gonna take time to get where you want to be!

Best wishes and luck to all!

Gosh, I've gotten discouraged tons of times, but I've only been at this since March and have cleaned up my reports considerably. I think I was more discouraged when I didn't know my rights and I let CA's and Creditors walk all over me.

Now, I have raised all three scores considerably and just had one more deleted on Experian today! So that means I went from 16 derogs to 4 :) I have gone from 11 to 5 on Equifax and from 13 to 6 on TU. I would say I've done pretty well.

Everytime I get discouraged I remember how bad it used to be.

Myst, I know how you felt... I ordered my report and out of nowhere I got several CAs after me but this board certainly makes me feel powerful in the sense that I know my rights. I have started the journey already by sending a couple of VAlidation latters to 4 CAs.. I am starting slow by making sure they are old and small amounts.. I think all four of them so far total up to 400$ in debt and all are at the range of 4-6 years old...

I also expect the worse but hope for the best that way I can prepare for my next action...

I do all the time. Just never stop in your efforts. Like in my case Bankruptcy was my answer. No matter what follow thru. Remember to always accept advice here from the fellow creditnet vets. But remember it's not always whats right for you. I learned the hard way.

    Absolutely.

When I first started reading the board, I must have been delusional or something, and told myself, "oh this will be a piece of cake." Well, I went in all gung ho, and basically made things worse. If I learned anything, which I am still, every day, it is to slow down and tackle one thing at a time. I thought I did a good thing by getting goodwill tradeline deletions, but the accounts ended up getting deleted entirely, which really hurt, with the age of the accounts, so forth. I would have been better off just letting the tradelines expire in another year or so. Anyway, just take it easy, and know that at least you are trying, and doing something about it. Some others may do better doing a lot at one time, but keep reading and soaking it all in, and you will be fine.

    Myst,

Just don't let 90 days go by without disputing something or you'll end up having to pay for another credit report.

Everytime you dispute and there is a change, whether it be a deletion, verify, update or whatever, you automatically get a new report and start the 90-day clock over again.

I know I'm going to have to end up paying again, but I'm going to lay low for awhile. Here's the thing. I had a mobile home (roomie & I bought) repo'd back in 1997? (Due to fall off approx 11/2004). But, and here's the big but, they never filed for a judgement against me. SOL for suing me is 15 years!! YIKES! 1997+15=2012 ugh! The account was recently bought by Asset Acceptance and they have it listed as "unable to locate". (They apparently don't try very hard. If my Victoria's Secret catalogue can find me WITHOUT a change of address, you'd think a creditor could find me with one! lol). So anyway, I got me a couple of secured cards to start rebilding credit positives, and I'm gonna wait and see if the sleeping giant stays asleep! Why deal with a lawsuit if I don't have to? I've managed OK up until now, and I'm still young enough to wait a couple of more years for this one to disappear!

Thanks for all the support, though, it helps!!
