I have no relationship with AT&T. No phone, no cards, nothing. I found this inquiry on my report: AR-At&T Base Score Project WTF? What is the AT&T Score Project? In addition, I assume since they pulled my credit without permissible purpose.. thats $1000 for me.
Yes, it is a soft. This is how they are determining an average of customer's and potential customers credit scoring. They can then base future new account approval policies on the information. It's pretty much the same as when a customer does a promotional inquiry.
Write to AT&T (CRRR) and demand an immediate WRITTEN explanation of what this is for and what their PP was. I'd also try demanding a copy of the information they were furnished. The issue of whether or not an UNAUTHORIZED inq is hard or soft has been discussed ad infinitum. It makes NO difference whatsoever. The problem is that they recieved your information not whether that request is available to future creditors, (hard V. soft). However, the fact that it is listed as an AR, (account review) throws another level of complexity in here. I'm not sure if what items of your information are available in an "AR". My guess is that it's substantial. If it is, yes you have a $1,000 claim. The $1,000 is the MINIMUM in this case. I'm currently in various stages of demand for my $1,000 check from 3 different companies. The way I figure it, with the way these people act I'll get $1,000 approxomately every 3 months. That breaks down to $333 monthly and will be applied to my new BMW (635 CSI) pmt. My new book: "How To Let OC's And CA's Buy You A New Car". Let us know what happens. :
Nope... If you opt out it prevents only PRM ( promotional ) inquiries...pulling hard or AR ( account review ) inquiry is not permitted if you have not any business relation with company that pulls your report...
Does anyone know what a DTC inquiry is (listed on my equifax report)? Is it a soft or hard inquiry. There is no mention of a DTC inquiry type in the legend. Also, if I have permanently opted out of promotional credit offers and promotional inquiries continue to accrue on my credit report, who is liable? the PRM source or the CRA? YZF600rk
Search the board! This has been asked 100's of times. Butch, Seems to me there are two issues here: 1. AT&T did an unauthorized pull of my credit. 2. Inquiries are derogitory information. Otherwise our FICO reasons and credit declines wouldn't be due to "too many inquiries". I have a recent decline due to that reason so I will be more than happy to show the Judge. Bottom line: they had no right to pull my credit. I will be at the Courthouse Monday to sue both them and Equifax.
Butch, I emailed you my response because I didn't want to post a potential defense strategy for any lurking PRM sources that are sued regarding impermissible inquires. yzf600rk
