    Hello, I'm new here.

I received a summons from a collection attorney.
It appears that they filed in Supreme court of Erie county NY.

I was served in person exactly 20 days after the date of the letter.

I am concerned that they may claim I received it earlier, because the server handed me the papers and left.

I know I need to respond, but the date on the letter makes it seem that I have not responded in time.

    Any ideas?

The server of a summons usually has an affidavit of sorts they must fill out establishing the date you were served. Call the court clerk and ask, or go down there and get a copy of the completed summons.

I'd guess that it's the Superior court of Erie County, not the Supreme court.

Either way, it's probably worth a call to the clerk to find out the schedule.
