A relative of mine was preapproved for a chase platinum mastercard up to 100k at 0@ fixed intro bt and then go to rate depending on credit of preferred pricing (whatever prime is, currently 4.25; or elite pricing 8.25 (4.00% plus prime) or standard pricing (11.99 plus prime to equal 19.24). My question is was this preapproval a random (capital one, citibank mailing) or does Chase actually pull a promo inquiry before sending out the preapprovals. (I would pull the relative's report, but the relative thinks that i am obessed with "credit," "am I"? that's a hard one to figure out and thinks that pulling it yourself is negative, although we know its not detrimental, only hards are!)
I can't say either way. However, I do know that my wife received a similar offer with 0% BT rate until June 2004. We applied online, and we were approved for a $4k line! (Not instantly, but when we pulled our credit reports, we already saw the new line reporting.) We're still waiting to receive the cards. My wife was receiving some pretty good offers - Bank of America Alaskan Airlines, Chase, and others that I've received as well. This led me to believe that she had pretty good scores to get these preapproved offers. So, we took the best one and just decided "What the hell? Why not?"
i'm wondering same thing we just got that same letter universal card by chase up to 100,000. it came days after disputed items came off
