after 4 years? anyone experience this? Is it 1 month earlier than normal like CRA's usually do? Or do you need to remind them?
It is five years. It will automatically drop off five years to the day it was reported. That is what Chexsystems told me. Even if you pay, it is still there, it shows paid, and some banks will give you an account if it is paid or paid for xx months or years.
ChexSystems reports for 5 years. Sometimes it comes off automatically, sometimes they need a gentle remineder. Order your report and go from there.
Be careful when ordering your report. You don't want to wake a sleeping dog. I have a funny feeling that Chexs gets a percentage for reporting new info to banks on defaulted accounts. I am supposed to be off of Chex in October. I'm not even stressing anyway because I don't need a bank acount for anything at this current time. To test it, you could stroll into Washington Mutual and tell the new accounts person that you want to open up an account and had some problems with Chexs but have cleared it up and want them to verify that it's clear before try to open an account. They can do this for you.
