Does CHOD really work?

Does the Creditnet Holiday Onslaught of Disputes actually make any difference in the success of disputes? I understand the concept involved - during the holidays the volume of mail traveling through the USPS is something like doubled, and that should theoretically give the CRAs less time to respond within the 30 days required by the FCRA (is that correct?). I have two disputes to file with the big three for two CAs on my reports. I am anxious to begin the dispute process; it is tempting to use the online dispute resolution process for the sake of getting everything done sooner. Is it likely enough the dispute will be more successful during CHOD that it is actually worth the extra time and expense of sending my dispute CMRRR?

I don't think it works as well as it used to, now with better technology, and the CRAs staffing for these things.

But, it really doesn't hurt to put your dispute in during this "window". The basis for CHOD is also in the shortened working days number (holidays mean less actual working days in the 30 day response time), there is increased activity for credit report requests due to customers opening new accounts, also CRA staffers taking time off, etc.

So, since you are so close to the CHOD window, why not try it. You've only got the cost of a CMRRR, and the possibility of increased chance of removal.

That's true. It can't be any worse than a dispute any other time, so why not try it?

Is the 30-day response window timed from when the dispute is sent or when the dispute is actually received and signed for?

From date of receipt, whether on-line, via phone or mail. That's why the date really started yesterday (one less biz day for verification).
