Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin I absolutely see their point in wanting to know which accounts belong to whom. Anonymity in financial matters is more important for the illegitimate users of accounts than it is for the legitimate users. That's why scumbag tinpot dictators have Swiss bank accounts. You need a financial element for any terrorist or criminal organization to operate. If movements of large armounts of cash have been prevented or deterred, your terrorist/criminal must move money through bank accounts. If their name is on a list of people who won't be allowed to do that, they must create or assume another identity. If those identities are more closely checked, it gets harder to do that. I'm not saying it's necessarily the right thing to do, I'm just saying it does have an effect, even if the effect isn't 100%. Now if they can just get halawa under control!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin A SS# AND A DRIVERS LICENSE DOESN'T PROVE WHO YOU ARE??? BUT A CREDIT REPORT PROVES WHO YOU ARE???
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin OK, say I walk into the bank with a social security card and d/l that are perfect counterfeits. Who's to know? I may only need the account for a few days. By the time the ruse is discovered, I've taken the money into the account and moved it on. Unless a quick credit report cross check turns up ... absence of a person with that SSN and drivers' license and address...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin What of situations where a new legal immigrant wants to open a savings and checking account at a bank ? She got her SSN only days ago, and is Muslim ....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin THE LACK OF A CREDIT REPORT MEANS THAT THE DRIVERS LICENSE AND SS# ARE BOGUS????????

Re: Re: Re: Re: Does Citi pull hard inq for checkin Do the privacy implications of hard inquiries for renting cars, obtaining insurance, opening checking accounts, getting utilities turned on, and the like bother anyone? Without getting into wheteher it is appropriate to have a credit report pulled for such things, is it any creditor's business that you are engaged in activities that have no bearing on your creditworthiness? Why should a creditor or anyone else know that you rented a car from Dollar Rent-A-Car last week? Why should anyone learn from a credit report that you were shopping for car insurance or switched electric companies? I see absolutely no legitimate need for anyone but the consumer to see these inquiries. What's your take on the privacy issue of hard inquiries for stuff like this?
