I just signed up for some DVD's on line from Columbia House. After filling out my info I received the message "Thank you for your application, you will be notified by e-mail if you are approved". Are they going to pull an inquiry on me????
Yikes, I don't think so. Anyway, credit report pulls are tied almost exclusively to Social Security Numbers these days, and I don't think Columbia House asks for that. I think their so-called approval process has to do with trying to ensure that you're not already taking advantage of their free offer, that six of your relatives at the same address aren't also doing so, that you don't have an unpaid account with them from 1997, etc. Keep us posted, though! Once I signed up for 6 free books with a few books to purchase a year club. I was turned down. They said to contact the CRA. I never gave them anything but address and name. Don't know if they actually pulled an inquiry cuz I wasn't into monitoring like I am now. Big brother is always watching.
I "THINK" they only check INTERNAL records to see if you ever STIFFED THEM...or anybody at your house did...
I once used a mail drop as an address for them and they sent a letter that the address was already used. I sent them a letter that I live on a boat and everyone in the marina uses that box. They said OK and I got my stuff. BTW...I don't live on a boat, but the story made sense. Although I was living on an island at the time.
