Does Equifax typically respond to a procedures request within the required 15 days, and do they typically provide decent procedures? I noticed in the cover letter containing the dispute investigation results that Equifax included a "general" statement of their investigation procedure and also provided the names & addresses of the creditors that were contacted. Does this cover letter alone meet the requirements of FCRA 611(a)(7) for description of reinvestigation procedure, or does Equifax need to provide additional information in response to a consumer's written request for procedures? HOW WOULD YOU ARGUE THAT THE COVER LETTER ALONE DOES NOT MEET THE FCRA REQUIREMENT? The cover letter contains the following Notice to Consumers: Upon receipt of your dispute, we first review and consider the relevant information...If the review does not resolve your dispute...The source reviews the information provided...The CRA then makes deletions or changes...The name, address and, if reasonably available, the telephone number of the furnisher(s) of the information contacted while processing your dispute(s) is shown under the "Results of Your Investigation" section on the cover letter that accompanies the copy of your revised credit file.
All they have ever done for me is start another investigation. So be it, I then send another request for *another* investigation of some different items. This to be be followed up with a request for procedures. etc etc etc............. this is my overload approach which is having mixed or RNG results with experian and equifax. At first it seems like nothing will come off, then in time and who knows what, things start falling of for no new apparent reason. (everything seems to be subject to the RNG god of wild chances?) Dog
If you email they will give you a name and telephone number of the company they verified the account with.
