I was curious because instead of getting the united visa with an annual fee I figured I could just get the amtrak guset rewards card and then transfer to united. Will they switch my worlpoints card to the amtrak card, or do I need to apply outright?
ero2, Yes, they do. I did that many times. They converted Garfield Platinum Plus MC into Quantum and Barnes and Nobles Platinum Plus MC itno Elite Rewards Platinum Plus Visa. I forgot what number that you should call and do the search on the board. Ron.
I DID TRADE PLATINUM PLUS TO QUANTUM...BUT they said I had to APPLY FOR AMTRAK or AAA---even though I was told before on the phone...ALL I HAD TO DO WAS ONLY DO IT WHEN MY ACCOUNT WAS 100% PAID OFF...
The last lady I talked to about my account that agreed that over 7 years with no CLI is excessive... SENT SOME NOTES OFF... CUSTOMER WANTS A "PRE-APPROVED" CLI (7 YEARS IS EXCESSIVE)---no credit report CUSTOMER WANTS TO TRADE FOR AMTRAK or AAA (no application--no credit report) CUSTOMER NOT TOO HAPPY WITH DELAY OF CREDIT BALANCE REFUND CHECK... CUSTOMER IS READY TO CLOSE ACCOUNT AND TAKE BUSINESS TO ANOTHER BANK CUSTOMER HAS BEEN WITH US FOR 10+ YEARS She was a little weird though...she kept on THANKING ME FOR MY BUSINESS AND PUTTING UP WITH HER...(maybe she thought I was IMPORTANT) UNLIKE FLEET and CHASE!?!?!?!?!?
i've done it many times, and you get the free intro APR rates every time at least 4 or 5 times me done this
UYGF Maybe they THINK that QUANTUM is the BEST...so they don't want me to DOWN-GRADE??? I told them that QUANTUM as a card DOES NOTHING FOR ME!!!
I thought Quantum was the best MBNA card. I have two questions...1) how do I get a quantum card (currently have a platinum plus) and 2) if it is not the best card, what card is it and how do I get it?
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? It depends on what you call BEST... I have other cards with BETTER TERMS...and they have increased my CREDIT LIMITS in the past 7+ years UNLIKE MBNA!!! But until BofA combines our 2 accounts into 1...MBNA IS THE HIGHEST CREDIT LIMIT...and is one of my "OLDER" accounts...
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? I just called and traded PLATINUM PLUS I had for it... When I traded...YOU HAD TO HAVE A CREDIT LIMIT OF $10,000 MINIMUM!!!
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? I Attempted on three occasions. The first credit card I had no problems (8 months ago). The other two ,however, I had to re-apply over the phone to obtain the lower rate . The best of all, the last one was for same credit card!
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? lol i got my quantum worldpoints with 9800 limit. It's now strangely at 13K. i dont remember how i got it that high i think i combined a apple line goldoption loan into it. YOU MUST BE PERSISTENT and talk to the folks who can help you. CSR's may not be allowed or will not want to do this. But the top dogs, the elite, can make it happen. It really helps to have a $0 balance of course, tips the scales to your favour.
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? they didn't let me trade or upgrade, told me I had to apply for quantum.
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? then you didn't try hard enough lol. i didn't say on the first call i got what i wanted. oddly a 0% till august showed up on my two cards hmm today.
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? Apply for it? I thought it was invitation only? Then again, others said they could convert (10K min. limit). Oh well, never hurts to try sams advice: Be persistent and keep calling until you get someone who can help. A definitive answer would be nice.
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? yeah you all are right, I probably asked too many questions...next time I'll just TELL them I want to trade my 10,000+ plat plus for a quantum and not apply for one. the app person asked me where I found out about it and asked if I had an invitation, but I told her I didn't and heard about it from a friend she still the app, but I changed my mind before she submitted it...(hard was not worth it.)
Re: Re: does MBNA do card conversions? yes. my quantum card was converted at $9800 so that 10K rule is flexible. lol. Then after the 6 months of low APR, i had to switch, cause i wanted worldpoints, omg, 1.7% for another 6 months. I didn't use it though cause 1.7% sucks, strangely today its not 0% till september for BT's. I guess they hate me having a 0 or negative balance.
