Okay, with the help of everyone's help, I'm slowly starting to clean up my reports. I have one more question. I have disputed information on my report and results are starting to come in. Does the OC have to remove their entry IF the account was "sold or transferred?" (The company who now has it has their derogatory comment listed too.) Thanks in advance! Bob
No, the OC does not have to remove the tradeline. IF they sell or transfer the account to a collection agency, they must mark the account with a $0 balance due. The collection agency can add their tradeline to your credit report as a "collection account". So, you can have two tradelines for essentially the same debt/account.
