Does PG show items in dispute?

Hello Everyone! A couple of weeks ago I disputed some items for my husband and myself. I have pulled the reports from PG and also the Equifax freebie, but I don't see anything listed in dispute. Does this information not show up on line? When I check status at Experian, everything is listed (the disputes), but Experian is the only place I can check. I appreciate your help in advance! Everything will show as listed if you pull the report. It's not supposed to be supplied to creditors until resolved...don't get me started on that one. As far as EQ, the only place I see it listed as in dispute is on copies of the report they mail you. TU's dispute system isn't even in the same century as the other two.

Oh, yeah...a helpful hint with EQ...

If you only have one open dispute with them, you can go through their system as if you're starting a 2nd dispute. When you do, items that are in dispute already won't be listed as disputable. This is a good way to check the status on your items on a daily basis...only way I've found with EQ other than calling...

    Thank you AtlantaGA!
Hmmm, so what you are saying is it will not show up on the credit reports until its "resolved" one way or the other... and that this is because of other creditors that might look at your report? I just want to understand correctly. I'm trying to figure out how to see if the CA's/OC's report the item as in dispute as well. I have no clue........... NuB

actually, when i pull equifax at work, if someone has an item disputed it will say "dispute investigation in progress" but i will still see the tradeline.

When you dispute an item, it is 'supposed' to be supressed from your reports until resolved. I've seen that not happen quite often, though.

Okay, so it looks like the only way to see the disputes is to order them by mail, or wait for the updated reports from the CRA's. I'm guessing this is the only way to see the the CA's have reported as in dispute as well. Is this the only way to catch the violation?

If you dispute an item with EXP, you can see it anytime you try to start a new dispute. The same is true with EQ, by process of elimination, if you have only one dispute pending. The only visibility with TU is to call them and ask.

Items you dispute with the OC are supposed to contain a note of 'Consumer Disputes this Account Information' on the reports. That note comes from the OC and has nothing to do with disputes sent to the CRAs.

I realize the two disputes are different. I don't see either one of them (CRA's notation nor OC/CA's notations). I'm wondering if the note of 'Consumer Disputes this Account Information' note is also only listed in the mailed reports. I just don't see it anywhere! :) Thank you Atlanta!

ah! i see what your saying. will your personal report say if your disputing an item - equifax and TU in particular.

not in my experience in regards to my personal reports, nor do i know of anywhere you can check - other than experian.

never thought i would give experian kudos for anything....

'Consumer disputes this account info' should always be there. Frequently, the OC doesn't submit this to the CRAs, which is a violation

i have not had any of my items show on PG as being in dispute - but they show when i pull my report from the CRA.

    must be a PG thing....

Thank you Atlanta and Jenz. Okay, so no notations seen from the OC's/CA's and I know they're in violation. Thank you!

oh, my bad...yes, PG is an abbreviated report. You won't see all info there. It should show up in your full report, though, on-line or by mail.

Okay........hmmm, I wonder why my disputes aren't showing up with the EQ on-line report? Thank you!

Re: Re: Does PG show items in dispute?

I was under the impression you had to wait at least 30 days for this info to show up (or not show up), even thought we feel the OC/CA should send IMMEDIATE notification to the CRA of a dispute.

I have always waited 45 days just to be sure the CA/OC has had plenty of time to report the dispute information, or delete if they knew they were violating the law. I beleive that they update on average every 30 days, and you cannot tell which CA's/OC's report when and how....by tape or via electronic system, etc. 45 days seems a comfortable point.

My opinion is that the sooner you can nail them the better. I never intend on actually suing either. Fortunately, the debts I was doing this on were $40-200. I receive at least one report every week or so because I am disputing a lot of stuff concurrently, so I am almost alwasy in possession of a current CR, regardless of the CRA. I have only had to actually purchase 1 in the last 4 mos directly from them.

Re: Re: Does PG show items in dispute?

    you do what i do!

vary when i dispute items so i always have a current credit report without having to pay for it.

i think the question was whether or not the item being disputed with the CRA showed up as being "in dispute" during the 30 day dispute period - am i correct?

Re: Re: Re: Does PG show items in dispute?

Hi Jenz, TonyD, thank you both for your responses.

The disputes are staggered from 1-2 weeks ago. Perhaps they haven't updated yet as you mentioned.

Yes Jenz, you are right in that I was questioning where it shows up as "in dispute" on the part of the CRA's during the 30 day period. I was also asking about the CA/OC dispute notice and where and when I might see that. From what TonyD says, I'm going to have to be more patient! Thank you both again! NuB
