My EXP score starts at 700.
In DEC, I apply for a Amex Blue, approved $5K
    Get no hards with EXP
Check my report in Jan Score is still 700
Jan--Dispute old Amex Green 'Settled with less than full balance' (last reported 1/02) account as 'not mine'

Exp verifies account is mine, wipe out all history except 1/04 as OK/unknown and keeps same TL.
Amex Blue added on EXP 2/04 with 2K balance and 5K limit as well as history from DEC-FEB OK
    Score drops to 648!

    How is this possible?
Did they reage the old Amex account? I can't see how else adding Amex blue would have dropped the score. None of other accounts changed, I checked to verify.

losing credit history (even bad history sometimes) and adding new credit always lowers scores. I just didnt realize by how much!

dont worry, it'll come back up soon w/no late pmts and low utilization on the new CC.

let that be a lesson to others about disputing old lines of credit, even if they have some lates.

it IS a F'd-up system, aint it.
