What about silver mirror tint?? I saw it on a Silver V6 Accord at a db soundoff (car stereo competition). It was SHARP! Made me appreciate Silver cars. Have fun in your A4 today. Re: Dogman....AUDI A4 3.0 - I GOT I Ok, dogman, you wore me down. Chapter 1: I'm one of those curmudgeons who believes NEW CARS = EVIL and that CAR PAYMENTS = EVIL. I must admit being a real DaveRamsey.com believer on that score. Given that frame of reference, when I saw your post, my heart sank. I thought, "Gosh, he would have been 200% better off and 85% as happy if he'd bought a 3-year-old Audi rather than a brand new one." Chapter 2: I read this thread. I especially noted the comments about the headlights and the heated seats and the three-position switch for the sunroof and the new-car smell, and I realized that you really love that car. Chapter 3: It's hard to make a case against love. So... CONGRATULATIONS! (Just don't do it again for at least 7 years, lol.) Doc
Dog, I send you my congrats from Houston! I have a 1998 A4, 1.8T and love it! It's the old style, but I really want to get a new one next year! Have fun..they are great cars, and free service for 3yrs makes it that much sweeter. Just stop by the dealership to get your windshield washer fluid filled....all free! Rick
dogman and rick, I agree. I drive an Audi 90cs (from the year before they started with the A4/A6 series - which did not seem to be that old when I bought it - at the end of its lease period - notice Doc!) These cars are just great. Of course, mine is not nearly as fancy as yours, but it is paid off and I like it and plan to keep it for some more time. If you just keep doing the routine maintenance, this car will run exactly the same after 4 years and then after 6 years and 8... It is built to last. Enjoy the car and good luck!
Hi all - River we've missed you - glad to see you! All - yup it,s new DOC - depreciation and all. But the 3.0 motor and transmission and seating positions and 10 speaker BOSE and 16 in alloys - are great. It was funny - wen t to the downtown car wash tonight - only 4 cars in the place - my 2002 A4 3.0 - silver 2 - 2001 A4 1.8T - silver 3 - then a Marin type chick drove in - the exact same car as mine!!! 4 - There was a Volvo S60 there as well - he was sitting by himself LOL! Doc - won't carry this debt long - due to income I receive every 6 months - in additon to work. IT WAS GREAT! A dude pulled up next to my in his 330 Ci - I turned my head the other way,,,,, Hell - I got my MAX new in Oct 1994! I'll keep this delightful beast for quite a while. AWWWWWW Dogman!!! Thanks for being such an inspiration to me. Even though I haven't had time to post lately, I find that you guys are like a soap opera (watch 1 episode every three weeks or so and you are all caught up). I am really happy for you!! CONGRATS!!! Now can somebody help me get a Suburban ( I have just taken on the responsibility of four more children plus my BIO. two). I drive a Malibu and this ain't gonna get it. Besides I think that I am just too chic for a Minivan.
Dog - 2 warnings for 'ya 1) Don't get a 'black eye' -- careful with the windshield washers when you have lights on - the little caps that hide the headlamp washers are notorious for flying off at >40mph. The first time it happened to me the dealer tried to charge ... until I printed out 100 other incidents from Audiworld.com and they gave in. 2) Watch the low-front - those little concrete bumper things people put in parking lots can cause serious $$ if you go over one. Not so much the going over that hurts - but the pulling back can do major damage (including fenders) ... not sure if they did anything on the 02 A4's (I have an 00 A6). I want CVT on my next one. The Tiptronic is nice for passing, but I want the smoothness of the CVT. Enjoy well! -mj
