I disputed with a CRA on the phone a few days ago and wanted to get the documentation there. I don't want it to sound too legalese - YET ! What do you think about this letter? Any changes? Thanks SO much! Dear CRA I recently submitted a dispute regarding the following items: â?¢ MIDLAND CREDIT MANAGEMENT #8500**** â?¢ IC SYSTEMS #4205*** â?¢ ASSET ACCEPTANCE METRIS-**2 â?¢ NEWPORT NEWS #3617*** Per my discussion with your representative, enclosed is documentation that supports my dispute. As you can see, I have made requests of the above creditors for documentation that proves these accounts are mine. To date, I have received no answer, and legal steps are currently being taken against these creditors for unlawful activity. During my investigation process regarding the validity of these debts, I discovered that only debts that are verifiably accurate can be reported to any credit reporting agency. Thus, your continuing to report these unverified debts is against the law. I RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT THESE ITEMS BE DELETED FROM MY REPORT IMMEDIATELY. If you are indeed able to verify these debts as valid, please provide for me details of your investigation process including the name, title and contact information of your source. Also, please be so kind as to forward me an updated copy of my credit report when this is complete. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
*WARNING* By sending them anything regarding a pending dispute, you are providing them with an extra 15 days to investigate. (45 days, instead of 30 days.) You need to be aware of that before you do anything. Secondly, the OC (NN) on the list are typically not required to respond to requests for validation of an account. Depending on the CRA involved, you may be told that the CA doesn't have to provide anything to you, you need to contact the OC to be provided with documentation for the account. That answer was from a representative in their consumer affairs department (in another thread), and in my talks with the same person, I can believe it; they told me that a FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION settlement only affected residents of the handful of states which had reached their own settlements with the company. What part of the word FEDERAL didn't they grasp?
Okay cool, maybe I'll see what the CRA does first, THEN I'll send the letter (without NN) Thanks so much!
