Hello everyone! I am a 27 year old who currently holds a shameful score of 615 as reported by BrightScore. When I was about 19-22 I had credit cards that I couldn't pay for in college and I let two of them get 120+ days without being paid. I know I have to wait for these things to fall off and I have already tried to call the creditors and see if they would remove before then, but had no success. I just accepted a job offer that will provide me with a 44% increase in income (before taxes eat it away) and I plan to reduce my debt significantly and hopefully with time, my husband and I plan to upgrade to a better home. I am fearful though that we would have to wait until those charge-offs and late payments fall off in another four years. I really didn't want to wait that long though. The last time I checked, my husbands score was in the 700s. Would my score, prior charge-offs, prior and recent late payments hinder us from receiving a decent interest rate on a home loan. We plan to keep our current home as a rental. Also, how can I boost my score within the next two - three years? My goal is to at least have a score of 720 in three years, is this far fetched?
I'm not a pro but I think you should try to send a payment for deletion letter. Agree to pay a certain amount for deletion. That's what I'm doing now. I'm also 27 with scores much much lower than yours! So I feel you frustrations! I had 13 credit cards while in college. Google sample letters!
First off are these accounts now paid in full or in collection? Second, do you still have these cards and if so have they been paid on time? also considering the time frames the 7 year rule may come into play. These should fall off if your time references are correct. Also these have diminshed effect as time goes on, is anything else keeping your score down.
You should get your real FICO score. Bright Score is a FAKO. Have you reestablished credit? An absolute must.
You should pull your 3 reports from annual creditreport. You will see the drop off date for those 2 accounts. Should be from dofd. Also, I don't know where you got your scores but those are fake. You can only get your real scores from fico .com. Once you pull your reports check everything with a fine tooth comb. See what needs to be fixed, gw'd, disputed, dv'd. Then get to work!
