I have been cleaning up my roommate's credit (so that we can refi our condo), with some success, I might add, due to the information and knowledge I have found here and on other boards. Since April, her scores have gone from EFX 617 to 679, XPN 600 to 690, and TUC 586 to 699. BTW, we are locked at 6% on a 30 year fixed, and will get enough cash out to pay off every single bill we have, including cars and all credit cards. My heartfelt thanks to everyone here! Here is the part that makes me want to laugh: got a new trimerge so that we can refi, and there is a collection account, reported by Equisux (if I may borrow someone else's nickname for them) that is being reported by "Account name unknown." Um, let's see, does EFX allow anonymous furnishing of information? How the hell can they not know who is reporting it? What is also funny is that back in April, all three bureaus were reporting this collection account under the CA's correct name. TU and Experian accidentally deleted it (after telling us it was verified). The new trimerge shows it reported as of 8/02, so apparently, either the CA can't remember their own name, or Equifax can't. Duh, what was my name again?
Re: Don't know whether to laugh or Laugh. Dispute. Anonymous reporting violates your civil rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Several FCRA provisions depend upon your ability to know exactly who is reporting to the CRA. Doc
