I just don't get it.... this was such a let down. My FICO score was 640 3 days ago and I just lost all of my negatives today... totally clean report and my FICO is now 620. This is such a bummer!!! My negatives factors include: too many revolving accts with balances; too many credit inquiries in last 12 months (4- but one is RMA prior to expiration); average age of established credit too new (oldest acct established 1995 but closed, of accts still open oldest was established in 1998). I am so disappointed, but what can I do??

Probably what happened is that you lost a lot of length in your credit history. If the accounts with the negatives were your oldest accounts, then once they're gone you have a much shorter credit history and less points. In your case, most likely the length of credit on those negative accounts was outweighing the negatives.

    HTH,
    Brett

It was a charge-off expired at 7 years and an associated collection. so yeah I guess it was old, but very, very negative.

OK... I just noticed that in addition to the lost negatives, I also lost 2 of my oldest positive tradelines, a Citi card and a HH card from 95 ... this explains why my established credit history is so short... I guess I have to figure out where they went... actually it looks like I lost them a few months ago, but didn't realize it. BUMMER!!!

Just because you're paranoid does not mean you are wrong! :)

THE FICO GODS ARE NOT SMILING ON ME :( There goes the theory that the last deletion=biggest score jump.

Give it a month or so.

From what I understand FICO has to reassign you to a diffrent scorecard or whatever that is.

Also don't pull your FICO score till after the 2nd of each month, and if the 2nd falls on or right before the weekend, wait till the following monday.

If you do, FICO's computers may not have updated yet, and you get a lower score or the same one you had before.

really?? so if I repull my report sometime this week or next, you think FICO will be higher??

    It could be.

I'm kinda weary about paying $12.95 for a FICO report.

Last time I tried I pulled on the 1st or may. The time before that was 29 days sooner on the 2nd of april. I got the same score.

The kicker is on the 1st of May, 7x30 day lates were gone, along with 1x60 day late and 2 inquiries were added.

The "BADDIES" were giving you "EXTRA" points for HISTORY...more of the "BADDIE" was good than bad...F.I.C.O. LOGIC!!!

WAIT TILL JUNE 3 or JUNE 4

JUNE 1 and JUNE 2 are not updated usually...AND DON'T EVER DO IT ON A SATURDAY or SUNDAY unless you have "UNLIMITED" pulls!!!

OK... I'll re-pull midweek and hope for the best... I looked back at my old reports, this time last year I had a 624 with 6 derogs = better score than I have now with a totally clean report... that makes absolutely NO SENSE.

    Don't be bummed.

I read something interesting over at Christine Baker's forums. Her theory is that FICO uses at least four different scoring models depending on what "type" of customer is being scored. If true, it could be the deletion of your last negative shifted you to another scoring model resulting in a set-back on points, but more upward potential in the future.

What are your top for reasons for not having a better score now, and how do they compare with a previous report?

    EXPLAIN THIS!!!!

    LOW 665
    HIGH 739

I use credit every day...BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD A "BADDIE"

I will NEVER get into the 800's (I GUESS)

WHAT IS TOTALLY STUPID...IS I OWE LESS NOW WITH 706 THAN WHEN I HAD 739!!!!!!!!!!

    TOP reasons now:
    1) too many revolving accts with balances
    2) inquiries-- don't get this, I only have 4, 3 of which I initiated.
    3) credit history is relatively short.

    TOP reasons b/f:
    1) collection or seriously delinquent acct on record
    2) late payment on past acct
    3) inquiries in the past 12 months.

If it doesn't make any sense, it means it's not driving your score much. Pay off or consolidate those revolving accounts, I bet your score will go up big time.

Well, I was hoping I would get a good enough score boost to get a nice increase on Citi or get a new Citi card for BTs... now, I don't think that going to happen. Maybe I can convince them to give me an increase without a hard... I guess I'll have to try.

Well, score is the same as Sunday... I've decided to stop worrying about it, hell I have a clean report and for now that is good enough for me. I guess I will just have to get my balances down and in the mean time I will try getting a CL increase for BT. Calling Citi today, wish me luck :)

Oh yeah, I also called CSC to see what happened to my older positive tradelines, the rep was absolutely useless... I swear I had to say, "hello, are you there?" ten times while on the phone... sending goodwill to HH to see if I can get at least one of those old tradelines back.

Thats another thing, if you pull your scrore within one month of the last pull, your score is likely to be the same... its what happened to me.

Can't win for losing can you?

    Hiya Kit,

    Chin up!

When I lost my last derog on eq, my score dropped to 618. This was on May 2, 03. Now, my score is 696, 1 month later. I know my point boost came from balances updating as well...but prior to them updating, I went to 639. Then it was 657. Then the whopping 696.

It takes a little bit for it to climb back up...but look at it this way...if you keep up the consistent hisotry, it can only go up!!
