I recently pulled all 3 Cr's. I paid in a settlement GEMB/JCP in 2001, the drop off date on 2 reports is 03/2008 on the 3rd it is 12/2010!! I called JCP on was told by a re the drop off date is 7-10 YEARS after it is paid!!! Is this true?
It could be that the date on the 3rd report is in error (let me guess...experian?). Check all the dates one each of the reports to see what matches and what doesn't. BUT... If you're going to dispute the 3rd WAIT until the other two fall off otherwise those two might get "updated" to reflect the 3rd instead of the other way around. (That's just my view from the cheap seats
you guessed it!! but why would GEMB tell me that the drop off date is 7-10 yrs AFTER it is paid? I was under the impression it was from the DOFD.. so if that date was 04/2001 the drop off should be 03 or 04/2008 correct?
Because they are idiots. You are correct. JCP is notorious for reaging. Dispute is as illegally reaged to the paid off date. Be precise in your dispute.
so I should wait until the 2 drop and dispute the 3rd? is there correct "verbiage" that I should use to dispute the 7 yr rule if it does not drop?
just called experian ( got a fantastic rep!!) she verified the 7 yr rule, she said JCP erased all history...they had no dates at all, she did the dispute over the phone with me, we (3-way)called jcp and got DOFD to dispute!!!
Wow do I hear an echo??? Exact same thing with me. I was going to wait until the first 2 drop off and dispute with experian about the 2010 drop off. It was paid in 2003 (less than full) which I assume is what they are going by. I figure they were going to try to tell me it should be from time paid rather than DOFD. This is good info. Please let me know if you get a delete.
Ex told me that the 2010 date was there because the only date they had on file was a 2003 date, all history was deleted by GEMB/JCP. So they go by the only date they had.........
