Newbie here! Lots of great info on this board, I have been reading non-stop for over 2 hours, LOL!

I have 2 old CC's on my credit report that I just received this week. I also have them listed on a 2006 credit report copy that I have kept for reference. The question I have is that the drop off dates for each account are different on the 2012 report. In 2006, CC1 drop date was 9/2011, CC2 drop date was 10/12. The 2012 reports shows CC1 drop date is 4/2018 and CC2 drop date is 12/2016.

The Reported Since, Date of Status, Last Reported, and Status Details have all changed from the 2006 report. I don't have the DOFD dates for these 2 accounts, but I am certain that since they were charge offs and I settled them in 10/2004 and 1/2005 each that their DOFD dates were in early 2004. This really looks like illegal reaging to me. Should I get the real DOFD dates from Experian? Experian is the only CRA that is reporting these accounts and I am very ticked off that these are still around and causing problems for me! A sweet $2000 for these errors would be fantastic! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Creditnet! We're glad you found us.

If these were charge-offs that were settled back in 2004 and 2005, the drop-off dates shown on your old credit reports sound correct. I would definitely determine what the actual DOFDs are via Experian, and then dispute. They shouldn't have changed.

Thanks, I have my proof that these 2 accounts were illegally reaged! I called Experian, CC1 deleted all of the history that was on the credit report I have from 2006. They now are reporting I settled this account 7/2011, when I actually settled in 10/2006.

CC2 also deleted all the prior info before 3/2009. I settled the account 1/2005, they added the 55.00 write-off (difference between balance and settlement, 188.00-133.00) back onto my account 3/2006, and are reporting this was settled 10/2010.

I want to hire a lawyer to go after both of these companies, which are national retail companies. What would be the best type of lawyer to hire? Anyone have any idea how you would estimate punitive damages? I would love assistance to figure out how much they need to pay me for these errors and damages to my credit!!!! What do I do next??? I have all the documentation necessary as proof. The Experian rep even told me how to get the detailed history on the current report so I can show that the information on both accounts has actually changed.

If you want to hire a lawyer, I would look for a good consumer protection attorney.

I spoke with a good bankruptcy lawyer that had consumer protection experience. You could always try that too. It didn't cost a dime and I got some good advice. I found him reviewing this site for bankruptcy lawyers - litigatr.com/bankruptcy/texas/. Just my two cents, as I found it hard finding an attorney who specialized in consumer protection.
