In this economy, no credit card is easy to get. We are in a credit crunch, and stringent requirements are in effect. If you can, wait till things improve, if not, try first premier / Providian / Household. Not the best, and not a guarantee, but at least these banks are still solvent.

Target is pretty easy & if u have it for about 3 months they might change it to a visa.

What do you mean? Does Target offer VISA cards?

Yes. Retailers National Bank underwrites the cards.

    Hey firstclass,

I knew that Target offered VISA, but do they actually CHANGE thier guest card to VISA?? I am in need of another major cc to "round out" my credit card type. Hoping that I get a few pre-approvals in the mail.

    Thanks,

Just a heads up guys- not EVERYONE will be approved with Target.

Both myself and my husband (who now has a 681 EQ) have been denied because of filing BK.

Don't waste the inquiry if you've filed!

I believe Target/RNB pulls EQ pretty exclusively, if I'm wrong someone will point it out :)

I only applied for target because they were on nanac's list. I know they are in the denial part too, but I was approved via instant in-store application for 300. Still had 10 baddies on eq report at time I applied...eq was 653.

Thought I was Miss BignBad and applied for Mervyns...got the Big D on that one.

    Oh well.

    I think target pulls eq.

Go in the store & tell them u want to convert it over. Some people here have had there card converted over automatically in 3 to 6 months.

firstclass...do you know if they do a hard inq? I have slammed my eq recently :( Got overly excited that it was coming out of the toilet...and, well...kinda applied for alot of stuff. Most everyone (excpet evil HH) has given me accounts. Just looking for a good major cc.

Yes, they do pull from Equifax. I have had my target card for 3 years. Never late and I applied for the visa and a big D for that one. They have not even given me an increase at all either. Hope this helps!

Not to mention Target is starting to charge sales taxes on internet purchases.

Are you looking for a credit card or a tax free ecommerce site?

What's your prejudice against Cap1? Unlike Providian, you can work with these people to increase your credit.

    Om:

The main problem with Cap1 credit cards is that they do not report your credit limit to the 3 CRA's. That is a big minus in helping your credit scores...

That being said, I do have a Cap1 Mastercard myself, with a $2250 limit (annual fee of $69).

I also have a Providian Visa, with a $2000 limit and no annual fee.

    Both cards are unsecured.

My Chap 7 BK was only discharged May of 2002.
