Is employment status, that is, salary versus contract employment a factor in the application process for credit cards?

I don't think so...I don't have an application in front of me, but I believe the questions usually ask about INCOME...

In response to my application for a credit card, the bank requested a copy of my pay check stub.

I'm wondering if my employment status as a contractor with my company will affect the decision of my application for credit.

If you get any type of statement showing your current earnings that should be sufficient for a 'pay stub'... Even a copy of the check, or statement from your bank showing the deposits may be doable...

If you only get the 1099 at the end of the year, there is a chance that that is not recent enough for them to see that as being the current income.

But the company whom the application is with is the only one who can decide if that is acceptable. You may be able to find someone at their company who can explain their specific requirements, or possibly even if you explain the situation to them, they may be able to help out quickly.
