Eq 619, which card instant approve?

    I have a 619 now and want to build to a 700+ in a few years. I want to get a card and cut it up just so I have the credit avail on my report.

    I'd like to know which cards offer instant online approvals so I can do this.

    If anyone has similar experiences, please let me know, also let me know if I"m doing it wrong. Thanks

    I personally think that is wrong thinking. If you do get a card, I would use it at least once a month just to show some activity.
    As for your score, although it is getting there, 619 isn't for the most part going to get you prime cards.. You could try cap 1 or maybe household or orchard.

    Definately a bad idea not to use the credit card. Prime issuers like to see payment history, and maintenance of a reasonable balance, say 20-30% utilization.

    Zero use = Zero approval in prime market.

    so no prime cards, ok. I understand where you both are coming from whith the carrying balance.

    Would it be smart to have my gas/electric/cable bill come automatically to the ccard and then I write one check to the cc before interest? I think that would work.

    Which subprime cards do instant 'ok's?

    I've already applied for first premier and household (when I had a 573) and FP sent me an offer for a secured card but the fees were huge.

    household sent a letter requesting more info. I sent that back but still did not hear anything.

    I'd like to get the card asap because we want to buy a house in 2.5 years and are saving to meet that goal.

    It took me mid 600s on EQ to get best buy and target card. I still cannot get a household even when I was above 680 oddly enough although I think the reason was inquiries.

    620 is the magic number to avoid the "subprime" label. Applying for a card with such a marginal score may do you more harm then good. Wait a few months till you top 650 - 660, then apply.

    one of the best pieces of advice is, hold your horses, and don't binge apply.

    It's easy to go from 619 to high 7's in 2.5years, just gotta work it slowly, and dispute the feck out of everything (even good lines that have high balances lol)
