I signed up for EQ's CW and noticed a few errors on my CR. At the bottom of the report it said I could not dispute online and gave me a local number to call (which was nothing but a recording and where to mail disputes to). I called EQ and they claimed they did not "own" my CR since CBC (Credit Bureau of Columbus) does and so they can not make any changes to the report. CBC claims the EQ can, and that anything that goes into the CBC system is only temporary. I mailed CBC a list of my disputes, but I would like to just tell EQ to just fix my CR instead of this third party. Can EQ change my CR or are they lying about not owning my CR? Thanks
they do the same to me..I have to file through CSC. Equifax can change the report, but they will not. The only way to get equifax solely is to get one of the PO BOX's in a region that Equifax covers. Then you can do online disputes and all that stuff and you don't have to deal with all the moron 3rd party agencies they employ. Make sure you get it in a consumer friendly state though...I wouldnt put it past CA's to take advantage of the fact that you might have gotten a po box in a state that allows something like wage garnishment or whatnot..
