Hi, I just did an online dispute... I thought Equifax took it out of the scoring equation immediately? Please advise. Thanks, Allen
Equifax is notorious for not properly noting disputed items as disputed and for not scoring disputed items as disputed. I have disputed 3 items on Equifax by snail mail and not ONCE have they ever noted them as disputed. The good news is I now have them on a violation of the FCRA....
hey tom looks like we have the same equifax fico mine is all cuz i owe so much and have only 36% free
On both mine and my friend's reports, EQ has marked the items as being investigated/disputed but neither of our scores have changed. Actually, I think his went down 7 points immediately after but now it's up 4. My score never changes though.
that is weird. When I dispute with Equi. it notes it right away and I see a score change. That is how I qualified for the GM card.
ok this is what it says: JC Penney / Monogram Credit -0XXXX29XXXX INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT 09/1992 09/2000 Revolving PAYS AS AGREED $1090 $0 08/2002 Prior Paying History 30 days past due 03 times; 60 days past due 00 times; 90 + days past due 00 times; CONSUMER DISPUTES-REINVESTIGATION IN PROCESS
Ok, when you dispute w/ EQ, especially online, it usually puts it in dispute right away. Your score will usually change. When the above post said that her friend lost points, it could've been because it was his oldest tradeline, or something like that. Usually the score you see while in dispute, is the score you would have if that TL weren't there. If it's a really old account (I don't know when the DOLA is on that penney's account) it may not be affecting your score that much-the older it is the less of an impact it has. Now, maybe your score didn't change yet because of the holiday. If it's going to go up, it may tomorrow. If not, it could just be that the TL isn't doing that much to your score. Who knows with RNG??
