I don't know what to do anymore.. For the past 3 months I have been fighting with equifax to update my address. I sent them countless numbers of bills, copies of my DL and SSN to prove that the address reported isn't mine.

They would fix it for a day and somehow it gets changes to a whole new wrong address.

Yesterday I checked my report and noticed ALL collection accounts were removed including one by NCO (NCO you lucky BASTARDS) but now my address is screwed up yet again and now my SOCIAL SECURITY IS WRONG!!!!

WTF, I was able to get some of the hardest tradelines removed to include TLs from RMA and NCO and YET I can't seem to get EQ to stop reporting the wrong address and SSN.

anyhelp?? Its 7:55am and I am waiting for 9am so I can flame them with phone calls to complain

I too have had addresses reappear with EQ!

I can't substantiate this, but I've been told that names and addresses "come back" because your creditors report them.

If this is the case with you, then the only address that should come up is the one that NCO is reporting.

Well I talked to EQ and they fed me the same line.

They suggest that I contact all of my creditors and ask what info they are reporting.

    good grief!!!

What difference does it make who is reporting it? If you prove to the CRA what your correct address and SS# are, they have a duty to report correct information. They can't hide behind "someone else is reporting this." I mean, how is this any different fron reporting other incorrect info?

    § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

    (B) Requirements relating to reinsertion of previously deleted material.

    (i) Certification of accuracy of information. If any information is deleted from a consumer's file pursuant to subparagraph (A), the information may not be reinserted in the file by the consumer reporting agency unless the person who furnishes the information certifies that the information is complete and accurate.

    C) Procedures to prevent reappearance. A consumer reporting agency shall maintain reasonable procedures designed to prevent the reappearance in a consumer's file, and in consumer reports on the consumer, of information that is deleted pursuant to this paragraph (other than information that is reinserted in accordance with subparagraph (B)(i)).

See also Cushman v Trans Union. In this case, the CRA was required to go beyond merely parroting the information that was reported to them by a third party. When you dispute something, they do have some responsibility to make sure the information is correct before they include it in your report.

    Hmmm thanks for the info....

IN a weel or so I will be going to PLDC (Its like basic training part 2) and will have no access to a computer or the outside world for 30 days. I know I am going to dream about credit repair while I am gone. :(

Every month my year of birth gets changed to be one year off, as reported by Experian. I don't even bother to dispute it, because they want tons of supporting info to prove it's wrong. When the creditor reports it though, their word is golden. I got three new addresses listed when I applied for a mortgage. The broker shopped it, resulting in three file pulls, with three different addresses! I still can't figure out where they got the zipcode they used, considering how much different it was from my actual zipcode. Any small typo will result in a new address listing though.

Equifax had my birthday and address wrong for quite a while, and would send a letter with the correct address containing a credit report with the wrong address. There was a simple typo in the address, most likely made by a recent creditor, probably my Target account. I even have two reports, a few days apart, where they claim to have corrected my DOB on the first report and it was already wrong on the second report.

I intend to scan and post some of this stuff, just to show I'm not making it up.

Well, they've had my date of birth wrong for months now and despite every attempt to correct it (sending in all my identifying info) they keep changing it back to the wrong one. They tried that line on me that one of my creditors was reporting it and that I should call all my creditors. Well, I told her that it was EQ's job to ensure 100% accuracy, not mine, and she went ahead and initiated an investigation on the creditors that reported since the old birthdate showed up again. Well, after that investiation those creditors were pulled off the reports, but sure as anything 2 reports later, the old b-day was up again.

I just sent them one last piece of identifying info, and if they don't get it right this time, I'm going to send them an intent to sue for knowingly reporting innacurate info.

I really HATE having to send copies of my social secuirty cards and such. I have done it so many times and half of the time they claim never to receive it. WHERE DOES IT END UP?? Who knows!!

I think an intent to sue letter would serve pretty well.. I wrote two PFB letters and will give them a chance to respond.

I still am completely baffled on how difficult it is to get EQ to report accurate personal info.
